Elianne Ivo Barroso holds a Ph.D. in Communication and Culture from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) (2002) and a post-doctorate from the Université du Québec Abitibi-Témiscamingue (2015). She is a professor in the Department of Film and Video at the Fluminense Federal University (UFF). In addition to the PPGCine-UFF, she is also a professor in the Graduate Program in Creative Media (PPGMC) at UFRJ.

She has experience in the area of Communication and Arts, with an emphasis on Cinema, working mainly on the following themes: cinema, audiovisual editing/montage, visual effects, audiovisual production, and expanded cinema. She is currently dedicated to research on Editing/Montage and the aesthetics of audiovisual cartographies and on Brazilian film editors/montage artists.
