Faith-Based Cinema in Brazil: Content, Audience, and Market

RioSeminars

Faith-Based cinema has been consolidating its own audiences, communication, and distribution strategies in Brazil and abroad. But what characterizes a faith-based work? What do distributors look for in new projects? How can we engage in dialogue with Christian communities without reducing the narrative to preaching or compromising its cinematic quality?

Ygor Siqueira, a producer and distributor specialized in the segment, and Father Omar Raposo, Rector of the Archdiocesan Sanctuary of Christ the Redeemer and Episcopal Vicar for Social Communication of the Archdiocese of Rio de Janeiro, discuss the characteristics of this market, the criteria for selecting and positioning works, the sensibilities of different Christian audiences, and the strategies capable of transforming identification and mobilization into viewership.

Aimed at screenwriters, directors, producers, distributors, students, and researchers, the conversation will seek to offer practical references for developing projects with cultural legitimacy, distribution potential, and the ability to reach audiences both inside and outside religious communities.
