Monica Demes

Monica Demes is a screenwriter and director. Her cinema investigates how the repression of female desire produces monsters. Her animated short film Halloween, made in Madrid, was awarded by David Lynch, which led her to pursue her master's degree in the US. There, she directed O Despertar de Lilith, a queer retelling of Dracula screened at BAFICI, Lund Fantastic, and Fantaspoa, and released on Prime Video across 120 countries. Her short films have been screened at over 100 queer festivals. She is currently developing Réquiem para Clara and A Mata with MyMama Entertainment.
