Workshop / Masterclass :: Costume Design Workshop
01/10/2013 > 10:00 - 12:45
Mary Elizabeth Vogt designed the costumes for the upcoming Warner Brothers release, GRUDGE MATCH, with Sylvester Stallone, Robert DeNiro and Kim Basinger. Her previous films include the MEN IN BLACK trilogy, HOCUS POCUS, THE FANTASTIC FOUR: RISE OF THE SILVER SURFER, RECOUNT, TV's PUSHING DAISIES, and she co-costume designed BATMAN RETURNS.
Ms. Vogt will discuss the role of the Costume Designer in bringing character, color, and emotion to the feature film through wardrobe design. She will describe how she initially conceptualizes a character's look, based on the character's place in the story, as well as the unique qualities each individual actor brings to his or her role -- and how that character evolves through sketches, fittings, and directorial input. She will illustrate her talk with film clips, stills, and sketches from her own work.
Ms. Vogt is a member of the Costume Designers branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and a graduate of both the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, and the Art Center College of Design in California.
